What do you do?
I’m an improviser and a member of the faculty at Improv Theatre Sydney. I am also directing a great show for the Sydney Comedy Festival called 'ITS Axel Cobretti Undercover'. It’s the best show in the festival. Obviously. Why do you do it?
Improv is the kind of play that you don’t get to have as an adult generally – so it’s an amazing thing to allow yourself time for.
What do you love about the city you live in?
The way of life. I lived in New York for four years and loved it, but Sydney is a wonderful place to live.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
Back to New York.
What's your favourite item of clothing? Why?
Oooh. An old 'Rocko’s Modern Life' t-shirt. It’s worn to the point of being real, real soft.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
'The Simpsons'.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
No where. I’m not messing with time travel – send some other sucker, I’m fine right here.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook for us?
A steak. Frites. Green beans.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
To listen.
Are you happy with your work/life balance?
Yeah! I have a big boy job in the city as well as teaching improv, but I work a nine-day fortnight so I can look after my baby every second Friday.
How do you define success?
Success is knowing that there’s no endpoint to success – it’s about the opportunity to do the next thing.
What's your spirit animal?
A werewolf.
