For money I’m a brunch hustler/ coffee dealer (more commonly referred to as waitressing). But I’ve just started a new two-part project which is a crowdfunding-like platform that allows people to give resources and funds directly to refugees and asylum seekers, minus the middle man. The second part is a showcase of the current public perception surrounding refugees and why that negative view needs to change, quickly.
Why do you do it?
I was fortunate enough to be bought up in a time and place with total security, ample resources and most of all freedom. Only a small percentage of the world is allowed that benefit and many forget or are ignorant to that privilege. I’m forever grateful for that gift and I believe anyone who is in the position to help, must; whatever area it is. We’re all one. So that’s why/ all I want to do – help people and promote equality.
What do you love about the city you live in?
I love the community of Brisbane; the connectedness.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
A six-month-extended trip through Canada, America, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
What's your favourite item of clothing?
My Docs. Trusty companions and they seldom leave my feet.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
'Humphrey B. Bear'. That closing scene when he runs all the toys back was pure bliss. It still gets me.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
To a pumping party in New York sometime in the '80s: all the legends would be there. We’d all dance. For days.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
Vegan bean tacos.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Kettles are for water only. Not milk. Especially not milk and milo.

Ninety per cent of the time, I only read eighty-five per cent of a book.
How do you define success?
It’s purely internal feeling. Like love; you know it when you feel it.

Elaine Benes; an unhealthy level of my mental thought goes to thinking about how damn amazing she is.
