I am an assistant maker/ designer for Adelaide artist and designer Tiff Manuell. We hand paint, cut and sew unique bags and accessories for people who love colour.
Why do you do it?
I have always been drawn to colours and the way they interact – I really connect with the aesthetic of the products in this way. I love the process of thinking carefully about which colours and shapes work together, and seeing how people are drawn to different pieces and how happy it makes them. I’m learning more about design every day and most of all I love the fun and relaxed studio environment.
What do you love about the city you live in?
I like the laid back pace of Adelaide, the local creative community, and the fact that there seems to be a little bar or unique shop hidden around every corner.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
Europe – too many years ago now!
What's your favourite item of clothing? Why?
A bright yellow skirt I bought in London when I was 18. It was the first time I realised I could use fashion as a tool for self expression and have fun with it.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
'Captain Planet'! There’s nothing like a classic '90s educational adventure.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
I love modern history so it’s really hard to pick an era. 1920s Paris!
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
Probably avocado on toast with lemon, or a vegetarian green curry if you’re lucky!
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
It’s OK to go at your own pace rather than getting caught up in the journeys of others.

My backup career is floristry.
Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
Yes! For the first time in my life I have the perfect balance and I’m really happy with how things have worked out.
How do you define success?
Happiness and fulfilment to your own standards – not to those set by people around you or by society.
What's your spirit animal?
A greyhound! They are so sweet and they sleep a lot.
