What do you do?
I’m a fourth year psychology student by day and a part-time burger flipper [at Getta Burger in West End] and drink slinger [at Black Bear Lodge] by night.

Why do you do it?
I find psych fascinating, particularly neuropsychology and aim to work in a research capacity at uni before getting stuck into a PhD (to my thesis supervisor: if you’re reading this and feel compelled to offer me a job, I’ll take it).

I’ve been working hospo for years and I love the social atmosphere and countless fabulous people that I’ve had the privilege to meet. Particular shout-out to Black Bear Lodge, where I bar tend; if you haven’t been there before you should remedy that ASAP!

What do you love about the city you live in?
I love a lot about Brisbane. It’s a very scenic city with plenty to do while maintaining a friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that larger cities lack.

Where did you go for your last holiday?
I’m originally from the UK and visited home at the beginning of the year, narrowly avoiding the COVID chaos that ensued.

What's your favourite item of clothing?
I’m a real sucker for this garish mustard yellow shirt I own.

What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
'Saved By The Bell'. Tiffani Amber Thiessen was, without a doubt, my first love.

If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
1960s Brighton for the mod scene.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?

Nothing frightfully exciting, I’m afraid. I seem to be forever making soups, so probably soup.

What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
To be driven by my own agency rather than the expectations of others.

Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
Absolutely. Occasionally things can get a little hectic between uni and work, but I generally manage to squeeze in some time for myself.

How do you define success?
It’s obviously super subjective, but to me, achieving personal goals and the fulfilment that comes from those achievements.

What's your spirit animal?
An ibis.
