I am fundraising for the Motor Neurone Disease Institute of Australia by shaving my head on November 2. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is sudden, death typically occurs within three to five years, and there is no cure. All money raised will be donated directly to the research department and you can help by donating at personalchallenge.gofundraise.com.au/page/NicailR
Why do you do it?
My friend's family has recently dealt with the devastating effects of this disease and I wanted to support her. I've been growing my hair for a while now and it reaches almost to my waist, if giving that up can help to raise funds for the research department in the hope of finding a cure then it's an easy thing to give.
What do you love about the city you live in?
I live in Sydney for the beaches, and so I can continue to kid myself that I will one day learn to surf.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
Brazil and Bolivia. Between surviving Carnival, eating guinea pigs, and having a taxi driver lock me in a concrete bunker and rob me during the riots in Bolivia, I’m surprised I made it back. Best time of my life, I'm going back in November.
What's your favourite item of clothing? Why?
A custom made, full-length spandex bodysuit with geometric panels I bought off a guy in Brooklyn. I like to wear it around the house and pretend I’m David Bowie.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
The Care Bears. I spent hours as a kid trying to shoot laser beams out of my bellybutton.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook for us?
Tequila.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Everything will pass. And don’t stick forks in the toaster.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
I have a big mouth, everybody knows everything. It’s probably a good thing I don’t plan to run for office…
How do you define success?
By bettering the world around you and the world within you. I'm a walking cliché.
What's your spirit animal?
A lion!
