I’m one of the founders of Sign My Phone (an app that combines the selfie and the autograph for the digital age). At this early stage in the growth of the app, we all chip in with events as well as coming up with ideas with the guys. We all went to AIM together doing the same course so we’ve known each other for quite a long time, making it easy to bounce ideas around. I also work as an office/ artist manager at the hip hop label Elefant Traks in the inner west of Sydney.
Why do you do it?
I love what I do, I believe in it as well as what it represents. In both jobs, the people that I work with are incredibly talented individuals and as a collective, are very close and passionate about what they do as well. It’s difficult not to feed off that energy.
What do you love about the city you live in?
Sydney has this 'thing' – I’m still trying to figure it out after all of these years. It still makes me smile when driving for 30 minutes and all of a sudden the scenery changes from city to nature. The food I’ve grown up with and still discovering in the different areas of the city, the… I’m sure that every city is the same but it’s just… I don’t know, it’s home and I love it.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
Tasmania for Falls Festival at the end of last year with the Sign My Phone crew, although that was for work so not technically a holiday I guess. I’d have to say Melbourne was my last holiday to visit my sister with my girlfriend and just be amongst the city. If you’d asked me a month later it would’ve been more exciting!
What's your favourite item of clothing?
Sneakers don’t count right? I’ve been a gamer all my life and I found a shirt a few years ago of the box art for 'Pitfall' on the Atari 2600 (one of the first games I ever played) and I’ve never let it get thrown out.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
I have to say 'Red Dwarf'; British comedies were a big part of growing up.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
I’d love to see Rome at the height of its power.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
It’d have to be either Juicy Lucy’s (cheeseburgers with cheese melted inside the patty) or Chinese dumplings with pancakes.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Hold onto things with an open palm and not a closed fist.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
I tend to subtly hint at the Jeep commercial song to my girlfriend when we annoy each other in order to turn the tables.
Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
Yes and no. I could always use some more time to just spend by myself, but I’d probably get bored and just be on the PlayStation anyway. I feel that I need to be kept busy most of the time.
How do you define success?
Loving what you do, wake up happy and own your achievements and commendations.
What's your spirit animal?
A monkey wearing a tuxedo. It has a sense of intelligence but at the same time the tuxedo just makes you wonder... can I really take you seriously?
