I am studying Diploma of Photo Imaging at CATC Design School and I own Natasha Corrie Photography. In my spare time I work full-time as a writer for a government department.
Why do you do it?
I decided to study photography because I feel that life is far too short to spend it working 9-5. I wanted to do something that I love and that I could enjoy working on for the next 30 years.
What do you love about the city you live in?
I love that Brisbane has a little bit of everything. Beaches, museums, galleries, markets; they are all here and no matter where in Brisbane you are, you don’t have to go far to find them.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
I just came back from Honolulu with my husband. Looooooooove Hawaii.
What's your favourite item of clothing?
I do love a good pair of boots. Especially my brown pair. They are delicious and I love them!
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
I loved ‘Little House On The Prairie’. I thought Mary Ingalls was a cool.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
Sitting on a deserted beach in Puerto Escondido, Mexico, with my sister watching the baby turtles make their way to the water. That was a pretty special day.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
Pizza. I LOVE pizza and it’s easy!
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
1. Surround yourself with good, supportive people. 2. Mix with people who are better and more experienced at something than you and learn from them.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
I don’t like to eat anything orange. I will eat black jelly beans before the orange ones. That’s how much I don’t like orange food!
Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
Life is pretty crazy working full-time, studying and starting my own business, so there is no balance at the moment but there will be!
How do you define success?
Being able to earn a living doing something that you can enjoy and having time to enjoy life when work is finished for the day. That and getting to three in the afternoon and remembering I hid chocolate in my draw. Getting through the afternoon with a little help from Freddo is what all success stories are made of… Aren’t they?
What's your spirit animal?
I don’t know if I have a spirit animal, but I have far too many birds in my house. On my cushions, pictures on the wall, ornaments and hanging from my ceiling. I think my husband is getting a little worried!
