Why do you do it? Music has always been my passion, so I do it for LOVE.
What do you love about the city you live in? The beach and the bush.
Where did you go for your last holiday? The Tarkine in Tasmania.
What's your favourite item of clothing? My Black Northface hiking pants. Why? The perfect thing for touring – the bottoms zip off for set up and soundcheck, then zip back on for the show.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid? (If you've got kids, what's your favourite show to watch with them?) 'Doctor Who' – the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker years. My son is 21 now; we thoroughly went down the 'Star Wars' rabbit hole together plus all the animated spinoffs and still watch new stuff as it comes out. When younger, we got into the entire Gibli collection on DVD - 'Spirited Away', 'Ponyo', etc.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go? Abbey Road Studio B, London, UK, early 1967 – to help Geoff Emerick record 'Pepper'.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? Japanese scotch fillet steak with sesame oil, tamari, garlic and ginger marinade. If any vegos, the same thing is brilliant with tofu or tempeh. Served with mashed potato, steamed broccoli, green beans and carrots in olive oil, salt and lemon dressing.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned? Always respond rather than react – take a breath and try and see the situation from the other side; 'sleep on it' is always good too.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows... I once seriously contemplated a career in accounting and was offered a spot at Hobart Uni post HSC.
Are you happy with your work/ life balance? Now that the studio is finally on the coast 20 minutes from where I live and I no longer need to travel to Sydney a few times a week – yes.
How do you define success? Having the financial and personal freedom to continue to do what I love.
What's your spirit animal? The dragon. From my birth year of the dragon as well.
