A lot! I am a burlesque and circus performer, Head Mistress of Lady Marlene's School Of Arts, producer and artistic director of the RaGTaG Revue, Chrome St Follies and Lady Marlene's Cabaret/Burlesque shows, I stilt walk, eat fire and hang from ceilings!
Why do you do it?
I don't think I could live without it. I love performing and I love sharing that love with others. Seeing people enjoy new experiences and creating new adventures for themselves is my life!
What do you love about the city you live in?
Brisbane is fabulous because we are just large enough to be interesting but small enough that we haven't become impersonal. Any event you go to you will run into someone you know but there is always something on – if you know where to look....
Where did you go for your last holiday?
Holiday? What's that! The lovely Miss Kimmi Doll and I did take a couple of days off a while ago to go to Noosa to see the spectacular Meow Meow. We had a lovely time basking in the winter sun.
What's your favourite item of clothing? Why?
My Lady Marlene's School Of Arts singlet. It better be... I virtually live in it!
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
Choices, choices! The day did revolve around that fabulous 6-7pm weekday ABC timeslot that was variably The Goodies, The Kenny Everett Show, Dr Who or Monkey.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
New Kingdom Egypt... without a doubt. Whilst I love wearing a corset I would dread to visit any time period that also wouldn't let me take it off!
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook for us?
Pumpkin soup and roast pork... my fall back favourites and ones I know I am awesome at. Hmmmm, crackling...
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
I wouldn't say I have totally learnt it yet – it often sneaks up on me and hits me again – but, in theory, I know that you can't please everyone and no matter how hard you try you can't make everyone like you.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
Hmmm. I am not one for secrets. Not much embarasses me. Everyone knows my collection of pajamas is vast, I actually enjoy some reality TV shows (Next Top Model, Toddlers & Tiaras, Dance Moms), my costume “room” has expanded into two rooms and a bathroom, I have a separate stomach for popcorn, I think a life without cheese is not worth living and I have a huge penchant for wearing big granny underwear. Don't think I have any deep dark secrets left!
Are you happy with your work/life balance?
My work is my hobby and my passion. So yes. I am a lucky girl.
How do you define success?
Being respected by your peers, whether they admit it or not. Being happy doing what you do and having as few regrets as possible.
What's your spirit animal?
A snake... I have a couple of scaley babies and I dream about them all the time.
