I’m always writing plays. Sometimes I get the chance to direct them and if not you’ll find me lurking around some backstage area offering help in any other theatre role. Come check out Short+Sweet Brisbane for my two shows ‘Bitches’ – a comedy set at a dog show, and ‘The Woeful Tale of Mary Melody’ – choreographed by myself and Bonnie Mullins.
Why do you do it?
I’m obsessed with theatre. It is to me what blood is to vampires.
What do you love about the city you live in?
Brisbane is like a slightly daggier version of Melbourne with the opposite weather, and it’s only a 2 hour drive to see my family.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
I honestly can’t remember…Does last Christmas Day count? I got drunk in my mum’s kitchen while making all the cocktails in her cocktail book. Oh I know how to have a good time! #WildChild
What's your favourite item of clothing? Why?
My bra. I like to feel supported.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
Charmed. I love me some sassy witches.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
I’d probably go to the globe and check out Shakespeare in the flesh. And if it’s nothing like Shakespeare in Love, I’ll be very disappointed.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook for us?
I’m celiac and lactose intolerant so, like me, you’re getting a salad leaf and tablespoon of quinoa. Eat up!
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
You can do anything! You just have to be willing to sacrifice things like sleep, money and a social life.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
The other day a car pulled out in front of me without looking and I dodged him like a boss. I was so proud of myself that I spent the rest of the drive home pretending to be Bruce Willis in a car chase. I didn’t speed, and there were no guns firing at me, so it probably was the most boring car chase in history, but I personally think Brucey baby would have been proud.
Are you happy with your work/life balance?
Hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha. No. Can someone start paying me to make theatre please? I wasn’t joking about the salad leaf for dinner.
How do you define success?
Happiness with what you’re doing in life.
