Jessica Longworth - scenestr of the day

What do you do?
I work for Village Roadshow as a retail assistant at Australian Outback Spectacular and photographer for Paradise Country, two tourist attractions located on the Gold Coast. I also recently graduated from Griffith University with a degree in Bachelor of Digital Media, with a major in photojournalism.

Why do you do it?
As an emerging, visual storyteller with a passion for the still image, I use photography as a medium to gain a more in-depth understanding of my relationship with the world around me. After traveLling for a few years, I would love to pursue a career in the editorial industry, perhaps a creative role for a magazine.

What do you love about the city you live in?
I love living 20 minutes from the Gold Coast and 40 minutes from Brisbane. I get to experience the busy, city life with a cultural diversity, along with the amazing beaches on the Gold Coast – getting the best of both worlds!

Where did you go for your last holiday?
To celebrate the end of my degree, I decided to take a trip to Port Douglas and experience the town known as, ‘the Bali of Australia’. Through snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef, hiking through the tropical Daintree Rainforest and experiencing the historical events and nature of Kuranda, this trip was the highlight of my year.

What's your favourite item of clothing?
I can match my black-lace kimono with any outfit and suits any season and occasion.

What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
I loved the ‘Amanda Show’. Amanda Bynes was my favourite actress… WAS!

If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
Experience the’ 60s for a day for sure! The music and the fashion would be amazing!

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
I would make a good meal of spaghetti bolognaise; my mum’s recipe that is definitely one to remember!

What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Nail every opportunity!

Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
I enjoy staying home and watching TV series, I write lists of things to do every week and I have a gypsy heritage.

Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
One hundred percent happy with my balance… I enjoy my job and have made great friends, I have the best friends in the world and the best family I could ever ask for.

How do you define success?
Hard work and dedication has no limitations, as long as you’re happy!

What's your spirit animal?
Hmmm… I would say dolphin because their peaceful, creative and always happy.
