I’m a problem solver working in the specialised field of theatrical lighting design, currently 'Skyfall' and 'Let's Be Friends Furever' at Brisbane Festival.
Why do you do it?
Because collaborating alongside others on productions gives me a great buzz, especially when you know you’ve created something magical that the audience will love.
What do you love about the city you live in?
There is no one thing. It has the best climate, the best food, the best culture, the best shopping and the best atmosphere. I’m so lucky that I get to live, work and relax in the best city in the world!
Where did you go for your last holiday?
My partner and I went to Europe in December 2019 just before the lockdowns. It started as a trip to light a show which transferred to the SoHo Theatre in London, and it grew to be an amazing trip which took in additional countries like Scotland, Hungary, Austria, Germany and France. It was all so special as it was my first time visiting Europe. So lucky to get this trip in when I did and weird to think that two months later the world would lock down completely.
What's your favourite item of clothing?
I love wearing colourful patterned shirts by Melbourne-based men’s fashion label Declic.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
'Mr Bean'. It shaped me into who I am today.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
This is a tricky one. I’ve thought about this a lot and all I can say is the past can stay as the past and I will keep enjoying living in the now.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
Spaghetti bolognese slow cooked for over four hours with home-made pasta. The secret is pouring a whole bottle of red wine in the mix!
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
There’s no need to stress in the theatre, you’ll always find a way to have everything finished by opening night.
Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
I’m naturally a workaholic, I love to be busy but I always make sure I have time to eat well, exercise, garden and spend time with those I love.
How do you define success?
Working within a collaborative team. When you work with amazing people, they help bring the best out in you.
What's your spirit animal?
According to spiritanimal.info, I’m a tiger. I tread with caution but trust my intuition and jump quickly at new opportunities as they come.
