Fiona Stafford - scenestr of the day

Fiona Stafford
What do you do?
Publicity at UNFD – Australia’s leading heavy music label.

Why do you do it?
Music has always been my main focus in life, I can’t imagine doing anything else. We have some incredible artists that we work with and it’s rewarding to see them succeed and grow.

What do you love about the city you live in?
It’s cold, rainy and unpredictable. There’s always something to do. Melbourne has the most incredible architecture and culture; it’s such a beautiful city. I’ve been lucky enough to live in a few different cities and Melbourne is easily my favourite.

Where did you go for your last holiday?
Brisbane, to escape the cold weather and to see my friends and family

What's your favourite item of clothing? Why?
I have this black coat that I’ve owned for so long. I lived in Brisbane for five years and didn’t wear it once. However it has gotten itself on high rotation in the last nine months I’ve been in Melbourne!

What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
'Sooty & Sweep'… Watching it back now I’m unsure why… my older brother told me I used to watch 'Carebears' a lot. 'Gumby' and 'Puddle Lane' were up there as favourites as well.

If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
I would go back to 1992 (when I was 7) and watch Nirvana play at the Thebby in Adelaide. One of my favourite venues and it just would have been an incredible show to see. Unfortunately at that age I had no interest in Nirvana, so I would probably educate myself on my music preferences then too.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook for us?
Gourmet pizza – who doesn’t love pizza?

What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Word hard for what you want and be honest, always.

Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
I was a 'Carebear' in a dance performance when I was five… maybe that’s why I liked the show so much.

Are you happy with your work/life balance?
Definitely. It’s hard to find it, but when you do it’s great. I’m lucky that I love my job so working extra hours and/ or on the weekend doesn’t bother me.

How do you define success?
Feeling happy and content in all aspects of your life. Professionally and personally. I don’t believe that success is defined by how much money you earn, how many houses you own or how many friends you have. As long as YOU are happy with what you have achieved and have in your life, then that is success!

What's your spirit animal?
A puppy, no breed in particular, they’re just full of so much love to give and are so excited about the world. They also get to take naps a lot.
