Love live music, watch live music, appreciate live music, tell people about live music… and occasionally put together line-ups of great live music for boutique music festivals. [Aidan's latest boutique festival is NYE On The Hill, a two-night New Year's event located on a picturesque site 90 minutes from Melbourne.]
Why do you do it?
I love the energy of seeing live shows and that feeling when you see an amazing live act for the first time. I also really love introducing people to new music I know they’ll appreciate.
What do you love about the city you live in?
Melbourne is the best city in the world. It took me a few years living in other cities to realise this, but now that I do it’s hard to leave. We’re absolutely spoilt for the quality of local acts in this city and the amazing camaraderie amongst the different scenes. We also have ridiculously good coffee and a bunch of great people living here.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
Peru – to try and improve my Spanish and surf some of the northern beaches. Also managed to check out some live music too.
What's your favourite item of clothing? Why?
A t-shirt from Fuji Rock Festival that has a picture of Mickey Mouse whistling, walking up a mountain. A souvenir of good times.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
A close tie between Monkey Magic, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Red Dwarf and The New Adventures of Beans Baxter.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
The Fillmore East on New York on March 22nd 1968 to see the Doors perform at their best.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
You can’t change where you’ve come from but you can change where you’re going.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
My first CD was by a black metal band from Melbourne called Terraphobia.
Are you happy with your work/life balance?
I am now, but it’s taken 12 years of imbalance to get here.
How do you define success?
Leaving people and places better off for you having been there.
