I'm the publicist at UNIFIED Music Group, running PR for our in-house record label brands, UNFD and Domestic La La and all the wonderful bands on them.
Why do you do it?
What better way to marry my love of spinning words and music. I like that the role allows me to be inquisitive and creative, and at the same time utilise my skills for lists and to-dos. I also love the relationship building involved, whether from PR-media, PR-artist or label-co-worker-to-label-co-worker.
What do you love about the city you live in?
I just love that Melbourne is a complete hot-bed of things to do and eat. We are so spoilt. I also love that we have an amazing array of gorgeous country places just a short drive away (see below).
Where did you go for your last holiday?
In that little gap we had between lockdown #4 and #5 (I think? haha) in Victoria I took a weekend getaway to the absolute dream boat that is the Yarra Valley. My last overseas trip was a breathtaking one to New Zealand in 2019.
What's your favourite item of clothing?
This is always changing, as perhaps like many in their mid-twenties I feel like my style is still evolving a lot as I – find myself – clothing wise haha. But I'd say lately it's been a new long green cardigan and a pair of gum boots I recently bought.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
Outside of being a Nickelodeon tragic ('iCarly', 'Drake & Josh', 'The Amanda Show') I had a Saturday morning ritual of watching 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not'. Everything about it just blew my little eight-year-old mind and some of the stories gave me nightmares which I think I secretly enjoyed the thrill of. And you BET I was stoked to go to the museum on the Gold Coast.
If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
Jesus' time to meet the man himself.
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
First there must be wine and a cheeseboard. Then I'd likely cook my favourite meal – salmon, potatoes and salad.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Quite simply, it's been to always see the glass half full, no matter what.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows...
I'm really trying here, scenestr, but everything I think of I end up thinking "nooooo, I told X person that". Sorry, haha!
Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
Much more so with working from home in the picture. I appreciate the time (and energy) saved from commuting less and how it allows me to divert that into other personal endeavours. I've finally nailed my morning exercise and reading habits thanks to this. I'm also a huge fan of working alongside my partner at the dining table and taking lunch together.
How do you define success?
I don't think I can fully capture the breadth of this here but for me, some measures of success are: the health of your relationships, the growth of your self-awareness, development and confidence and having an impact on others.
What's your spirit animal?
Hmmm, this is not something I've ever considered so I won't make one up. Instead, I'll just tell you my favourite animal and that is definitely the GIRAFFE!
