With close to 8,000 social media followers, Brisbane-based hip hop artist Zia Diamond is starting to lay the foundations of a successful career, with her dynamic live performances ensuring her popularity will continue to flourish.
After releasing her breakthrough single 'I Miss You' late last year, Zia is now focusing on her first, full-length album, due for release in October 2015.
When did you start singing?
I've been singing ever since I can remember! Basically since I started talking. I began to perform professionally since I was 12 and then competed since I was about 16-years old.
You credit your faith and your family as integral sources of support and influence; how have they contributed to your development as an artist?
My family and faith are what have made me who I am today. Being reinforced with family values and morals have influenced my music career by developing me as a person and finding my purpose and the inner-artist within me.
When your single, 'Give It To Me', was released it leapt up the iTunes charts, overtaking many well-established artists; how did it feel to get such a positive response?
Seeing MY track stand over other, well-known artists was the most motivating thing to see. The hard work and hours put in to this track definitely paid off.
There's a rumour floating around about a new single - 'Break Up'; when can fans expect to hear this?
In the month of August! I'm really excited for this drop, it's the best track I have ever worked on.
Your album is also due for release later this year; what sorts of sounds can fans expect to hear?
The album drop later in the year will feature tracks that are more mainstream in the Australian music industry, such as pop rather than hip hop/ R&B. The album will represent me most as an artist and I can't wait to share it with everyone.
'Break Up' drops in August 5; while Zia Diamond's debut album is scheduled for a October, 2015 release.
