Zac BNJMN On Celebrating BTM Management's 4th Birthday

Zac BNJMN is a media co-ordinator for BTM Management, and also a solo artist.
Senior Writer.
A seasoned all-rounder music writer and storyteller with a specialised interest in the history of rock.

Brisbane-based music company BTM Management is celebrating their fourth birthday in December; that's four years of striving to bring artists a progressive service within the entertainment industry.

BTM Management provide a full range of services, from artist management and booking, to venue consulting, PR, web design, production and branding. Situated in Salisbury at Tall Poppy Studios, BTM Management has become an integral support network for bands and artists in Brisbane and beyond.

At their four-year mark, we have a chat with Zac Benjamin, a member of the management team and also a musician who produces under the name Zac BNJMN, to chat about BTM”s story so far and how they'll celebrate their birthday.

What is your role at BTM Management?
I’m a media coordinator at BTM Management, mainly focusing on social media and liaising with artists about their music videos.

Four years in, what have been some of the highlights?
The highlight for me has really been this year when we started offering music videos as a service for artists. It’s amazing to work with talented musicians and see their on-screen dreams become a reality.

What have been some major developments for BTM in 2018?
While the music videos have been really exciting for us, this year we’ve also been lucky enough to start working with some international artists as well.

What sets BTM apart from other service providers in the industry?
I think one of the major benefits of BTM is that we can help an artist at any level. We work with a lot of bands getting them their first show or recording their first song, but we also work with bigger artists and just took one of our bands on a full US tour. There are a lot of companies that do similar things to us, but won’t work with bands until they have a manager or a publicist and I think that really kills a lot of bands in the early days.

What have you learned during your time at BTM?
I’m always blown away by the variety of good music that comes through our doors. We get everything from R&B to hardcore and there are some really good musicians around.

How are you all celebrating BTM's fourth birthday?
Yeah, we’re all celebrating with a crazy gig on the Gold Coast. On 1 December, Vinnie’s Dive is going to have all of BTM’s favourite artists playing till late. I can’t wait.

You also write and perform as Zac BNJMN; tell us more about yourself as an artist and the music you produce?
Being a solo artist, I really try to have fun with music. The majority of what I write is instrumental rock with heavy influence from video game music, however some of the tracks are more collaborative with vocals or are more chilled ballads. I’ve been in bands before and inevitably it just becomes frustrating when people have differing opinions or don’t pull their weight with the boring parts of marketing; all of that can get in the way of just making music. I’m lucky enough to be able to record my own music; since starting the project, I’ve been able to release three singles, three EPs and a full-length album. Being able to hit record whenever inspiration strikes is amazing and it means the only thing stopping me from making music is myself.

You will be playing at the party too; what have you got planned for your set?
My set's going to be a wild one. I’m releasing a new single, ‘Skyline’, on the night with a music video, so it’ll be the official launch for the music video. We’ve played ‘Skyline’ live earlier in the year to test the waters and people seem to dig it, so it’ll be fun to see everyone get rowdy knowing the song a little better.

What's been happening with Zac BNJMN this year?
At the start of the year I dropped an EP called ‘Midlight’ where every song had a music video. It was really fun to see each song come to life with different visuals. Since then I’ve just been gigging around town and writing a tonne.

Do you have any new music on the way?
Yes, there’s always new music on the way. Keep an eye out for the ‘Skyline’ music video and following that you can expect another EP in the new year.

Where else can we catch a Zac BNJMN live show?
You can also catch me playing covers at Ballistic Beer on 23 December and Salisbury Bowls Club on 30 December.

Why should bands and artists get in touch with BTM Management?
No matter where you’re at in your music career we can help. Whether you need music videos, gigs, PR, recording, tours, breaking into the international market or even just gear hire, we’ve got you covered.

BTM Management's 4th birthday takes place at Vinnie's Dive Bar 1 December from 2pm-late.
