Some semblance of normality is returning to Brisbane's cultural landscape, with iconic live music venue The Tivoli launching Open Season.
From drumbeats to aerial feats, guitar licks to high kicks, The Tivoli will be home to a smorgasbord of music and live entertainment across the next three months with their Open Season programme, led by an encore return of Megan Washington's 'Batflowers' concert (22-23 December).Other highlights include local indie pop darlings Cub Sport (6-7 November), Indigenous electronic SA duo Electric Fields (13-14 November), and perennial indie rock stalwarts Custard (4-5 February).
Open Season kicks off with the unlikely marriage of Ed Kuepper (The Saints) and Queensland Symphony Orchestra (5 November), while there'll be performances from Jaguar Jonze (20 November) and First Beige (21 November).
The Tivoli are also spicing things up with a couple of VIP two-course dinner and show seasons – local songstress Sahara Beck will lead a five-piece band as part of Bite Club (9-19 Dec), a jaw-dropping cabaret by Briefs Factory, as well as a daring circus and physical theatre piece by Company 2 titled Le Coup (25 Nov - 5 Dec).
"Brisbane is one of the few major Australian cities that can safely reopen cultural venues and reactivate the arts and entertainment industry," The Tivoli Creative Director Dave Sleswick says.
"As an iconic live music venue, The Tivoli feels a profound responsibility to bring music, performance and the arts back to the city.
"At our heart, we are a live music venue – and Open Season plays to that strength – but when our industry shut down in March, we needed to diversify the experiences we offered so audiences and artists could come back together for an exciting, safe night out."
For New Year's Eve, Brisbane Immersive will present a speakeasy-themed night certain to get pulses racing, while Redland Bay rockers Beddy Rays will be serving a succulent Sunday roast alongside musical mates Semantics and Radolescent (15 November).
Tickets to all Open Season shows are on sale.
