Xavier Rudd will open The Green Room, Byron Bay’s brand-new music venue, located in the heart of the Bluesfest festival site, next month.
The Green Room was constructed and completed earlier this year on the very ground where all Bluesfest artists prepared themselves before hitting the Bluesfest stages, at Byron Events Farm, approximately 10 minutes north of iconic Byron Bay. "People speak of hallowed ground," Bluesfest Director, Peter Noble, says.
"When it comes to music, The Green Room stands on hallowed ground given the likes of Jack Johnson, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Gypsy Kings, Jeff Beck, Bob Dylan, BB King, George Clinton, Leon Russell, Jethro Tull, ZZ Top, Gurrumul, Mavis Staples, Kasey Chambers, Little Feat, Trombone Shorty, Cold Chisel, John Fogerty, Crosby Stills and Nash, Earth Wind and Fire, The Pogues, YES, Ziggy Marley, Paul Simon, Robert Plant, Ben Harper, Santana, Iggy & The Stooges, Steve Miller Band, Rodriguez, Bonnie Raitt, Dropkick Murphey's, Jimmy Cliff, Rufus Wainwright, Lionel Richie, Dave Mathews Band, Doobie Brothers, Boz Skaggs, Zac Brown Band, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Angelique Kidjo, Xavier Rudd, John Butler, Kendrick Lamar, The National, Jackson Browne, Brian Wilson, Tom Jones, Pattie Smith, Jimmy Buffett, Madness, Lauryn Hill, Tash Sultana, Sheryl Crow, Nile Rodgers, Morcheeba, The Teskey Brothers, Paul Kelly, Nora Jones, Baker Boy, Alanis Morissette, Midnight Oil, Crowded House, Amy Shark, Kev Carmody, The Saboteurs. . . and literally hundreds more who have walked this ground since 2010.
"I’m absolutely delighted that Xavier Rudd will be the first artist to perform in The Green Room."
Rudd will play his 88th and final show for 2022 when he opens the 1,500-plus capacity venue, with special guest is Bobby Alu who's currently on Xavier’s European tour.
"It's been a massive year and I'm stoked to play my final show on Bundjalung Country to finish things off. This new Green Room venue is gonna be great for the Byron area and I’m excited to launch this new space," shares Xavier.
Xavier has made the most of a post-Covid world by performing live on no fewer than 88 occasions in 2022. The sold-out 37-date Australian tour from May through July was followed up with a 50-date tour through Europe that began in September in Porto, Portugal and will end in Antwerp in Belgium early November.
By the time Xavier’s finished his European run he’ll have performed in Portugal, Spain, France, UK, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Belgium.
