Pharrell Williams, World's Most Ubiquitous Human Releases Happy New Song

The omnipresent Pharrell Williams has released a new track, 'Happy', from the forthcoming Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.

Williams has had an inescapable presence on the pop culture landscape this year. Not that we'd ever want to escape him, of course (we have to make that very clear, or he'll send us all to the cornfield).

As well as supplying vocals for 'Get Lucky', which shot to the top of the charts of all the countries worth paying attention to, he appears on Robin Thicke's smash hit 'Blurred Lines', and on another of Random Access Memories' standout tracks, 'Lose Yourself To Dance'.

Believe it or not, he even appears on the Man Of Steel soundtrack (as part of Hans Zimmer's thunderous "drum orchestra", alongside Jason Bonham, fellow Random Access Memories alum JR Robinson, former Prince protege Sheila E and a slew of notable session musicians).

He's also set to feature on the new Lonely Island album, The Wack Album, because, sure, why not?

Williams is co-producing Despicable Me 2's soundtrack with composer Heitor Pereira (the duo also collaborated on the previous film's soundtrack), and has written three original songs for the film with Neptune bro Chad Hugo, one of which is set to feature Cee Lo Green.

'Happy' doesn't feature Cee Lo, but it is a delectable slice of '60s era soul fed through a family film filter. The Despicable Me 2 soundtrack is out June 14 (same day as the Man Of Steel soundtrack, natch); the film hits movie theatres on June 20.
