WOMADelaide Will Proceed In 2021 But As A Reimagined Sunset Concert Series

WOMADelaide will go ahead in 2021.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Given current international travel restrictions and social distancing guidelines, WOMADelaide have reimagined their 2021 edition as four sunset concerts to be staged at King Rodney Park in early March.

After regular consultations with SA Health, the festival's producers have pivoted from WOMADelaide's traditional format of four days of entertainment across seven stages to present four unique concerts featuring a selection of Australian headline artists.

"While the sunset concerts will be a departure from the format that our audiences have come to know and love," WOMADelaide Director, Ian Scobie says, "we are working hard towards creating a joyful celebration of WOMADelaide's 29-year history and place in Adelaide's renowned summer festival season.

"After regular consultation with SA Health over many months, it has become clear, in light of the global pandemic, that it would not be possible to present the full festival across seven stages in Botanic Park.

"Our priority is the safety of our audiences and artists, and the concert series set-up – with one spectacular stage, limited capacity and reserved seating – will enable us to proceed in a COVID-safe manner approved by SA Health."

The artist line-up will be announced in the coming weeks. Register for pre-sale tickets.

WOMADelaide 2021 Sunset Concerts Series takes place at King Rodney Park (Adelaide) 5-8 March.
