WOMADelaide 2023 Line-up

L-R top to bottom: Youssou N’Dour, Genesis Owusu, The Proclaimers, Angel Olsen

Already bringing Florence + The Machine, Bon Iver and Soul II Soul to Adelaide in 2023, WOMADelaide have added even more international colours to their live music programme plus a stack of local talent.

Set to take over Adelaide's Botanic Park 10-13 March, WOMADelaide offers a diverse selection of sonic treats; from Korean folk to Scottish rock, Americana to Moroccan blues and everything in between.

New additions to the line-up include world music icon Senegalese singer Youssou N'Dour & Le Super Etoile de Dakar, 'Runaway' Norwegian art-pop artist AURORA, Scottish rock royalty The Proclaimers ('I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)'), and American indie folk, alt. country singer-songwriter Angel Olsen ('Shut Up Kiss Me').

With artists from USA and the UK heavily featured other nations represented include Korea, France, Morocco, Cuba, Canada, Mexico, Belize, Italy, Afghanistan, Niger, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Zambia, Taiwan, Mauritius, Madagascar, and Papua New Guinea.

The depth of the WOMADelaide 2023 is exhibited by the inclusions of Justin Adams (from Robert Plant's Sensational Shape Shifters) and Mauro Durante (Italian singer, violinist and percussionist with Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino and Ludovico Einaudi) performing together.

Then there's legendary banjo husband-and-wife tandem, both stars in their own right, Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn, plus the visually striking Korean shamanic folk group ADG7 as well as French-American jazz singer-songwriter Madeleine Peyroux.

On the Australian front, Zambian-born Sampa The Great returns to the WOMADelaide stage for the first time since 2016; the ARIA Award and Australian Music Prize winner's newest single 'Never Forget' features in the new Marvel film, 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'.

The internationally acclaimed Bangarra Dance Theatre returns to the festival after 24 years, performing their iconic work 'Terrain' that's choreographed by new Associate Artistic Director Frances Rings.

Proud Kuku Yalanji, Jirrbal song woman Kee'ahn, energetic Ghanaian-Australian rapper-singer Genesis Owusu (who won four awards at the 2021 ARIA Awards) and all-women rock band from Maningrida in Arnhem Land Ripple Effect Band round out the Australian contingent.

"We're incredibly excited to be able to present a full international programme again with such a diverse array of artists from 26 countries, many of whom are making their Australian debut at WOMADelaide next March," Ian Scobie, WOMADelaide Director, says.
