Wollongong Music Venue Rad Bar To Close Its Doors

Wollongong live music venue Rad Bar is set to close in June.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Wollongong's beloved live music venue, Rad Bar will close in June because the building it is housed in is to be demolished.

Rad Bar, which first opened as a cafe back in 2010 and has traded as a live music venue the past six years, is located in the 1933 building known as Lang’s Corner that will be knocked down to make way for a multi-storey office block.

Rad have informed its patrons via social media that “all tenants including Rad Bar have been asked to vacate the building in June”.

“As soul crushing as this news is,” Rad owner Dan stated, “there is absolutely nothing we can do at this point and we encourage you all to make the most of the last couple of months here. Come down, crack a tin, watch some great live music and let’s send it off in style!”

Rad Bar is part of the Yours and Owls family, who shared their sadness at today's news on Facebook. “Without this little room, punching way above its weight class, Wollongong and the scene it's harboured would be nothing compared to what it is today.”

Rad are keen to hear from you if you want to be involved in their final weeks: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
