Wolfmother & C.W. Stoneking Join 2021 Blues On Broadbeach Line-up

Wolfmother
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.
Update - 19 March, 2021: Statement re: Tommy Emmanuel: 'We regret to advise that acoustic guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel is no longer able to join us to perform at Blues On Broadbeach this year. Despite his best attempts, the extensive hurdles in place due to COVID-19 have proved too difficult to overcome.

'However, we certainly hope that one year soon, the Aussie-born, American-based guitar icon will be able to make the long trip home and finally bring his unparalleled talents to Blues On Broadbeach.

'Whilst Tommy is a truly irreplaceable talent, the incredible 2nd line-up announcement ensures his absence won't prevent us from having a rocking time!

'With Blues legends C.W. Stoneking, Ray Beadle and Lloyd Spiegel, as well as Aussie rock icons Wolfmother, joining Kiwi roots reggae outfit The Black Seeds, and the captivating Christine Anu, Blues On Broadbeach 2021 is sure to have something for everyone.'

A couple of ARIA Award winning acts have bolstered Blues On Broadbeach's already outstanding offering of musical talent in 2021, with the additions of Wolfmother and C.W. Stoneking to the line-up.

Veterans of the international rock scene, Wolfmother have played some of the biggest festival stages in the world including Coachella and Lollapalooza – they'll be bringing their bag of hits to Blues On Broadbeach for the very first time.

Another first timer at the festival, bluesman C.W Stoneking takes the genre all the way back to its roots in the 1920s, creating a pre-war jive infused with a jazzy New Orleans twist that'll have the Gold Coast howling!

With NZ roots kings The Black Seeds and Australia's own soul queen Christine Anu (performing the hits from Aretha's song book) already on the bill, Blues On Broadbeach is the ultimate way to dust off the blues of the past 12 months.

"The second round of artists coming to the festival in May will make for another memorable year," Festival Director, Mark Duckworth says. "As a music lover, the best thing about Blues On Broadbeach is the multiple styles of music we get to present, all stemming back to the original blues sound."

One of the largest, free music festivals in Australia, also joining the Broadbeach action in 2021 will be a trio of festival regulars: Ray Beadle, Lloyd Spiegel, and Fiona Boyes. "After the madness of 2020, I can't think of a better way to return to music than performing at Blues On Broadbeach," Lloyd says.

"It's an event that truly represents and embraces the Australian blues community, and now – more than ever – that community needs a chance to come together, relaunch and move forward.

"I'm so looking forward to seeing this amazing FREE showcase of Australian blues talent back in full swing."

Other highlights of the second artist announce include Mason Rack Band, Hamish Anderson, The Mojo Webb Band, Lecia Louise, Jimi Beavis & Paul Renton, Julian James, Jackson Dunn and Mike Beale.

2021 Blues On Broadbeach (Gold Coast) is a free event and runs 20-23 May.
