Canadian folk-roots group, Wild Rivers will make their Australian live debut in 2025.
Nominated for Breakthrough Group Of The Year at the 2023 Juno Awards, the trio of Khalid Yassein (guitar, vocals, keys), Devan Glover (vocals), and Andrew Oliver (lead guitar, synths) will headline concerts in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney next March."It feels like it's been such a long time coming. Australia has always been on the top of our list to visit! We can't wait to finally get over there," says the band, responsible for such indie charmers as 'Thinking 'Bout Love', 'Speak Too Soon' and 'Wandering Child'.
With an amassed 850 million global streams across their discography, 2024 has seen Wild Rivers release two studio albums; 'Never Better' in July followed on Friday with companion record 'Better Now'.
Both albums were recorded in Joshua Tree, California, with co-producer Gabe Wax (Soccer Mommy, Adrienne Lenker). "'Better Now' is yours now. We drove out to the desert to reset and make some music, and it quickly became clear that we had a lot more to say than just one album," Wild Rivers says.
"Every day we'd sit in the backyard and look at our whiteboard full of songs, determined to cut some from our list. Every day we couldn't bring ourselves to do it. We became so attached to these songs and this process.
"Where 'Never Better' was the initial raw feeling, the primary colours, 'Better Now' exists in the shades in between. It's a reflection, how your perspective on a situation changes the more you look at it over time. These songs are about the feelings that are bittersweet, flawed, funny and complicated. We joke that it's the emo sister to 'Never Better'.
"This has been such a fulfilling creative process, from writing these songs to hearing you sing them back to us live. We're coasting out of our 'Never Better' summer and bringing in the 'Better Now' fall. Time to get in our feels. Thanks for coming along for the ride."
