Situated in the beating heart of Australia, alongside the incredible Tjoritja/ MacDonnell Ranges just a scenic one-hour drive from Mpwartne/ Alice Springs, Wide Open Space Festival presents its 12th incarnation in 2023.
A three-day extravaganza incorporating cutting edge electronic sounds, banging live hip hop, deep acoustic meditations and innovative music, Wide Open Space Festival also offers burlesque, cabaret, spoken word, panel discussions, a dedicated kids space, workshops, projections, exhibitions, interactive installations and roving performances.Set to headline with a special DJ set will be Hermitude, fresh from the news they're re-releasing their Australian Music Prize-winning album 'HyperParadise' to mark its 10th anniversary.
The hip hop-electronic duo will be joined by experimental electronic artist Spoonbill (who's bringing his live band of horns, guitar and violin), the disco-jazz-classical-big-band-jungle tones of TEK TEK Ensemble and New Zealand rapper JessB (who is currently showcasing at SXSW in Texas).
Other line-up highlights include the blues-drenched dub, chunky skank reggae and jazzy hip hop of Sub-Tribe, DJ-producer JPS (aka Jerry Poon the man behind The Operatives), hip hop-electronic artist Kodiak Kid and the live-looping, ambient-electronic folk of X A V I A.
"It's a great party and festival, and an awesome opportunity to go into the red centre," shares Spoonbill.
"I'll be on electronics and controllers and synths, my guitarist and I have been playing music together non-stop for 30 years, and I have Mal Webb playing trombone and slide trumpet, and Kylie Morrigan on violin, so the line-up for the event is great."
Adds Sub-Tribe: "DESERT BOUND! Honoured to announce that we have been added to the prestigious Wide Open Space Festival smack bang in the middle of Australia, Alice Springs.
"This event was on the festival bucket list for ages, so were deeply humbled for the invite to throw down."
