What One-Off Australian Releases Are Available This Record Store Day?

2019 Record Store Day takes place nationally 13 April.

Fast approaching for another year, Record Store Day (13 April) has plenty of great, local releases that celebrate Australian music from The Amity Affliction, Midnight Oil to Courtney Barnett and everything in-between.

Embracing the culture of independent music stores worldwide, the Australian releases for Record Store Day are packed with all sorts of amazing titles from an eclectic range of genres.

But remember the golden rule for Record Store Day: not all releases are available in all stores, not even the stores know what they're getting. That means it's luck of the draw and first in best dressed, so get up early and prepare for some good old fashioned crate-digging.

The team of RSD ambassadors for this year include singer Kate Ceberano, Hoodoo Gurus legend Dave Faulkner, ARIA's Hall Of Famer Russell Morris, and surf-rock duo Hockey Dad.

Here is a list of some of the announced Australian releases:

Bob Evans 'Suburban Songbook' yellow LP

Released as a Record Store Day exclusive on limited edition yellow vinyl, Jebediah's frontman will have his ARIA Award-winning solo album 'Suburban Songbook' on wax for the very first time.

Broderick Smith 'Suitcase' LP

Originally released in 1992, the first re-release pressing of the 12'' vinyl will follow the iconic singer and bluesman release of his autobiography from 2018.

Courtney Barnett 'Everybody Here Hates You' 12"

'Everybody Here Hates You' is the newest track from Courtney. Exclusively released for RSD, the vinyl will also feature her 2018 tune 'Small Talk' as the B-Side. The artwork is hand illustrated by Courtney.

Hard Ons 'Harder & Harder' 7"

'Harder & Harder' is the first single from the legendary Australian band the Hard-Ons forthcoming album to be released later this year, and the first recording since the early 2000s with Keish back on vocals.

Mother & Son 'Mother & Sun'

The self-titled LP will be a re-issue of the cult Wollongong garage pop duo.

Regurgitator’s Pogogo Show LP ‘The Really Really Really Really Boring Album’

Released on vinyl, the Brisbane outfit Regurgitator will release their latest project on vinyl for the day (and the kids!).

The Apartments ‘Live At L’Ubu’ 2xLP

The Birthday Party 'Mutiny/Bad Seed' 2xLP

The final two studio recordings by post-punk band The Birthday Party will be compiled as a 2 EP set. After the extreme sounds of 1981’s 'Junkyard', the band relocated to Berlin in August 1982. Now an intense and tightly focused four-piece, the band recorded two extraordinary EPs – 'The Bad Seed' and the posthumously released 'Mutiny'.

The Loved Ones 'Magic Box' pink LP

Originally released in 1967, ‘Magic Box’ features the hit singles ‘Ever Lovin’ Man’ and ‘Sad Dark Eyes’ along with ‘The Loved Ones’. The Loved Ones are regarded as one of the most significant Australian bands of the 1960s. Some 52 years later, the album has been lovingly remastered and released on limited edition hot pink 180gm vinyl.

The Reels 'The Reels' LP

To this day, The Reels still stand tall as pioneers of that sound and the most innovative and successful Australian indie rock bands of all time. First and only pressing in this format to celebrate 40 years of The Reels.
