Saturday of the Australia Day long weekend was night of dancing, letting go and rocking out at The Zoo.

Brisbane-based band We Become Ghosts launched their EP, 'Solitaire', on Saturday night, completely captivating the audience with their sensational rock and electrifying attitudes. The five-track EP features all new, original songs by Luke Scott and the trio. The alternative rock band, comprised of Luke Scott on lead vocals and guitar, Dom Smith on Bass and Aaron Wright on Drums, were upbeat and exhilarated, and had the audience hooked from the very start. The relaxed, friendly atmosphere of The Zoo was quickly amped up and the liveliness of the entire room picked up when the trio came on.

Rocking out in jeans and t-shirts, the boys looked as cool as they sounded – figuratively that is, the sweltering Brisbane summer heat in the crowded room was almost overwhelming. Aaron even stripped off his shirt after the first song and played topless for the rest of the night in an attempt to cool off under the hot stage lights.

All three boys were packed full of energy which drew in a fairly big and animated crowd. Luke in particular had a very vibrant personality, making plenty of witty remarks in between songs, pumping the crowd up further, and keeping the other boys on their toes, with introductions like "this is a song".

The music was so energetic and catchy it was hard not to jump around and dance along. One particularly avid fan even tested out his breakdancing skills (or lack thereof) on the floor. Their song ‘Breaking Through the Maze’ was an exceptional stand-out piece that brought the crowd to a whole new level of enthrallment.

While the band were there to release their EP, or as Luke so eloquently put it, "we’re releasing our EP – sounds like a bodily function but no, it’s a CD with music on it", there was plenty of other merchandise up for grabs. There were copies of the EP, We Become Ghosts t-shirts, and even inscribed cock ring templates – the usual band merchandise, of course.

Overall it was a great night of music, with other bands including In Void, The Iron Eye and Jacket taking to the stage. For more music like We becomes Ghosts, check out Aaron and Dom’s other band, Ages Of Earth, who will be launching their EP at The Zoo 21 February, playing alongside Weightless In Orbit, Seven Sermons and House of Giants.
