As Australia's unofficial anthem, Waltzing Matilda holds a special place in the hearts of Aussies.
Two years after the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton (regional Queensland) was devastated by fire, the venue has had a $22 million rebuild and is set to re-open its doors in 2018 with the first annual Way Out West Fest bringing domestic and international talent together over four days.
Pop icons Jessica Mauboy, The Living End, Sheppard and Busby Marou will be joined by Australian country music stalwart John Williamson along with Americans Kip Moore and Lee Brice.
“It’s a real honour to play with such a great line-up of stars,” Jessica Mauboy says.
“The reopening will itself be a new chapter in the history of our nation. I can’t wait to share the occasion with the thousands who will come from all corners of Australia to celebrate with us,” she says.
'With a country race meeting, live entertainment in many venues across the town, markets and more, Winton will come alive with country hospitality, creating not just an amazing music festival, but a complete outback experience like no other.'
Way Out West Fest takes place 19-22 April (Winton, Queensland) 2018.
