Four years removed from their last studio album ('You're Welcome'), American indie rockers Wavves are back with new music after re-signing with Fat Possum Records.
Single 'Sinking Feeling' is filled with gorgeous, spacious, jangly indie grooves that sound modernly nostalgic alongside lyrics that detail the debilitating affects of depression.Despite the subject matter, Wavves manage to turn existential dread into an infectious three-minute belter destined for the charts.
The first taste of a forthcoming project from Wavves, 'Sinking Feeling' saw the group, fronted by singer-songwriter Nathan Williams, collaborate with musician and producer Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio) who helped them workshop the song in a series of now-abandoned studio sessions.
"'Sinking Feeling' is a song about a wave of depression that keeps coming back. It's that sinking feeling that drags you down and no matter what you do or where you go it follows you," Nathan says.
The video for 'Sinking Feeling' features Nathan driving in a nondescript desert location in an old-school big, classic American convertible with flashbacks to a debaucherous evening out.
