WAM's World: West Australian Music September News 2017

Stella Donnelly
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A brief glimpse at goings-on in the WA music industry, rounded up by WAM aka West Australian Music.

WAMCON

While music lovers can check the WAMFest Live announcement here, WAMCon is the essential event for the music industry. WA’s premier music conference runs 3-4 November and has revealed a few speakers including Stevie Wonder’s manager as well as heads of triple j and Burger Records.

Early-bird prices are finishing any day now, so if you’re too slow then make sure you don’t sleep on full-priced ones as the opportunities are endless.

WA’S BIG SOUNDS

We were recently lucky enough to witness WA artists kicking ass non-stop at BIGSOUND. Officially winning the event, Stella Donnelly took out the inaugural Levi’s Music Prize, crowning her as the best of the best!

A heap of other highlight moments were provided by WA acts, nailing our reputation for there indeed being ‘something in the water’.

KISS MY CAMERA

Free to enter for both professional and amateur music photographers (there’s now even a Best Phone Snap category!), the Kiss My Camera comp has returned.

The winners of the Best Live Photograph and Best Press Shot will both take out thousands of dollar’s worth of prizes from the likes of MRA, Chris Huzzard Studios, Perth Centre for Photography, Leederville Cameras, DoReMedia, Churchill Photolabs, Sorrento Strategic Music, Music Insight, Luna Palace Cinemas, PICA and more.

Hurry though, entries close soon.
