A brief glimpse at the goings-on in the WA music industry, rounded up by WAM aka West Australian Music.
DEMOS FROM THE GOLDFIELDS/ESPERANCE
WAM is excited to launch the fifteenth instalment of our acclaimed regional recording project series, with artist applications now open for 'Demos From The Goldfields/Esperance Region'.Following projects 'Sounds Of The Goldfields’ (2016) and 'Demos From The Northern Goldfields' (2018), WAM is returning to the region to showcase the artists, songs and stories in key areas not featured on the previous compilations.
'Demos From The Goldfields/Esperance Region' will provide regional and remote artists the opportunity to professionally record an original song with some of WA's best award-winning producers, including Matt Gio and Dan Carroll (Rada Studios); and Andy Lawson (Debaser Studio) at pop-up studios in Warburton and Esperance this August.
The final compilation will be released in 2022 on digital streaming platforms, limited-edition CD package, and distributed by WAM to local and national radio, industry and public.
WAM Regional Officer, Nigel Bird notes the magnitude of the upcoming recording project. "This project we're about to embark on is enormous.
"It will take us on a 4,000 kilometre journey to recording artists that live between the Great Victoria and Gibson Deserts, and others who are between Esperance and the Great Australian Bight – all in one region."
Applications to take part in the project are now open to original songwriters, artists and acts/ bands of any experience, age, and musical genre based in the region. Applications close Monday 14 June.
