Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A brief glimpse at the goings-on in the WA music industry, rounded up by WAM (West Australian Music).

WHEATBELT WAMBASSADORS

The final Wheatbelt Touring Circuit for the acclaimed 16/17 series sees a special edition headlined by rockers The Primary Collective (featuring Wheatbelt WAMbassador Jayden Crook) and the indie pop/ alt. country sounds of WAMbassador Polly Medlen.

The free shows are on Thursday 15 June at Quindanning Inne (with Russell & Tom); Friday 16 June Riverside Hotel, Northam (with Refractory Road); and Saturday 17 June Cummins Theatre, Merredin.

GREAT SOUTHERN SOUNDS

WAM’s ‘Sounds Of’ series has exposed the incredible depth of talent found in regional WA. 'Sounds Of The Great Southern' is now available online to listen to. Head to WAM’s website or Soundcloud to hear new songs from The Tidswell Twins, Willow, 40 Kays Out, Ron Coyne, Rastatrix, Blue Stuka, Carla Geneve, Mary Jayne & The Smoke Detectors, Kris Nelson and Isla Imogen.

WAMORE

• Fremantle is being warmed up soon by Hidden Treasures and RTRFM’s Winter Music Festival. But don’t forget City Of Perth’s Winter Arts Season either, running until 30 August. On the back of these alone, winter hibernation is a BIG mistake.
Jared Nelson is giving back to the music industry with Behind The Wall, launching training courses for musicians and roadies.
