GIRLS ROCK! WA HEADS TO KALGOORLIE
WAM, in partnership with Artgold, is excited to announce Girls Rock! WA is heading to Kalgoorlie this month.The Girls Rock! programme, which originated in the US and is now practiced successfully around the globe, tackles the issue of gender imbalance in the music industry with focus on the key areas of creativity, positivity, community and empowerment.
It includes workshops, live performances and fun activities designed to empower and inspire aspiring young female, trans, and non-binary musicians.
The sixth instalment of the Girls Rock! WA programme will be held in Kalgoorlie over the weekend of 24-25 July at the Goldfields Arts Centre. This is the first instalment to be held in a regional area of WA.
The weekend will include workshops on topics such as identity, songwriting and improvisation. Guest presenters will include musicians Hannah Smillie (The Psychotic Reactions) and Sara Salt (Nervous).
The programme is free for participants thanks to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Applications are now open.
WAM 'SOUNDS OF THE MID WEST' LIVE ALBUM LAUNCH
After many trials including a devastating tropical cyclone, WAM is thrilled to finally be celebrating the incredible musical talent of the Mid West region, with the official live launch of WAM's 'Sounds of The Mid West' regional recording compilation album.To be held in the iconic Queens Park Theatre, Geraldton, on Friday 23 July and hosted by ABC Mid West and Wheatbelt Breakfast presenter Michelle Stanley, the local music festivity will feature live performances from the ten recording artists, including Jade Jackson, Carrum Mourambine, Vince Jones, Theona Councillor, Warriyangga Warralgurniya, Gus McKay, Ian Weggler, Nicky Robson, Alexia Parenzee and Good Strife.
WAM delivers Sounds of The Mid West with the ongoing support of the WA State Government Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and WAM organisational partners, with a big thank you also to the City of Greater Geraldton, ABC Mid West and Wheatbelt, and the Regional Men's Health Health Initiative.
