A brief glimpse at the goings-on in the WA music industry, rounded up by WAM aka West Australian Music.

Demos From The Wheatbelt

A fresh crop of home-grown songs from WA’s Wheatbelt is about to be unleashed on the nation, with registrations now open for WAM’s newest regional compilation, Demos From The Wheatbelt.

It’s the first of 9 new regional recording projects set to record a whopping 90 regional artists over the next 3 years. Demos From The Wheatbelt will provide ten Wheatbelt songwriters with the priceless opportunity to record an original song with two of WA’s best producers at a pop-up studio in an iconic Wheatbelt location this March.

$1 Million Contemporary Music Fund Grant Programme

Announced by Minister for Culture and the Arts David Templeman at Lucy’s Love Shack last month, the new $1 million Contemporary Music Fund Grant Program is a culmination of three years hard work between WAM and the McGowan Government.

It’s a fantastic result that will create more opportunities for WA artists to promote, distribute and showcase their music nationally and internationally. Artists can apply for grants of up to $15,000 now and for grants between $15,000-60,000 from 22 January.

Stay tuned for more announcements on the remaining $2 million to be injected into WA music through the Contemporary Music Fund.
