Top-Bottom, L-R: Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect, Dead Letter Circus, Def FX
Independent Gold Coast festival Wallapalooza is back, bigger than ever. Queensland, it’s on!
You can’t keep a good festival down, and heavyweight rockets Grinspoon are at the centre of the line-up for Wallapalooza’s 2021 iteration.
Wallapalooza has run for more than a decade, becoming a breeding ground for some of the Gold Coast’s best rock, heavy and alternative bands. Thanks to easing restrictions and a state super keen to get back to live gigs, it’s full steam ahead and there’s no signs of stopping. Lets go.
Joining Grinspoon will be alt-metal outfit The Butterfly Effect and alt-rockers Dead Letter Circus. Both of these groups haven’t played a show for more than two years, making this return to the stage an extra special occasion for them.
Meanwhile, 28 Days will ‘rip it up’ with their mates Bodyjar, and Def FX make a long overdue return to the Gold Coast, one of their favourite stomping grounds. Even more heavy local legends will be crushing it on the stage, including Smoking Martha, These Four Walls, Rhino, and tonnes more.
This will be the first time that the festival moves from its roots at The Wallaby Hotel to Mudgeeraba Showgrounds.
“It’s very exciting this year to expand the event to the [Mudgeeraba] Showgrounds giving thousands more live music fans the opportunity to spend the day experiencing some of Australia’s greatest headline heavy acts,” Pineapple Mafia Director Andy Clark says, “whilst also experiencing the heart and soul of Wallapalooza, the amazing local talent. Such a diverse bill means there is something for everyone who likes it heavy.”
There’ll be food trucks, markets and a few surprises being kept tightly up sleeves at Wallapalooza 2021. . . Get ready to wreck your necks.
