Melbourne metalcore outfit Void Of Vision make a triumphant return to Brisbane to play as headliners at the first Halloween Hysteria.
After playing Brisbane back in May as part of Story Of The Year’s national tour, Void Of Vision frontman and vocalist Jack Bergin says getting back for Halloween Hysteria is among their highlights of the year.
“We hit Brisbane earlier this year on the Story Of The Year tour, but it was a bit of a different crowd,” Jack says.
“Since this time last year we haven’t had a good Brisbane show on our level, so it will be good to get there with mates this time and see all these great bands. It will be a whole lot of fun.”
Jack goes on to praise how supportive Brisbane’s live music community has been of the band. “We always love Brisbane,” he says.
“It’s always been a favourite spot to hit. We have made a lot more friends over that way throughout the years of touring, more so than other states, so it will be good to catch up again.”
At Halloween Hysteria, Void Of Vision will be a headliner act alongside The Bennies, King Parrot, Hard-Ons and Alpha Wolf, and Jack says it’s an honour for the band to have been selected.
“We were really so stoked, because when we got the details of the fest there were no other bands mentioned on the offer originally, so we said we’d love to head to Brisbane and do that business again,” he says.
“Then we got some more details further down the track and we were very pleasantly surprised. We’re very appreciative of it and we have to definitely live up to the headlining name and put on a good show for all the boys and girls out there.”
Void Of Vision released their latest body-of-work, an EP entitled ‘Disturbia’, in November 2017. Almost a year on from the release, Jack says ‘Disturbia’ was a welcome return to the foundation upon which the band was built as well as a much needed reinvigoration of their creativity.
“It was the perfect transitional release to make, bringing it back to where we left off before we released our first album even, and I feel like it was always a plan to release something to bring it back to where we were coming from,” he says.
“It just helped us get back into the groove of things; we were in a bit of a creative slump after the album and I think we really came back to what we love doing after we released the EP, and it helped us not only as a band but also personally.
“It’s been going really good a year on and now we’re back into the thick of it writing again, so it’s all happening.”
Void Of Vision are currently writing their second album, the follow-up full-length to their 2016 debut album ‘Children Of Chrome’.
“We’re writing for album number two at the moment, we have been for the majority of the year,” he says.
“I think it’s making sure we put out the best music we possibly can at this stage. We’ll have material out before the end of the year… so just a little sneak-preview I guess, but we’ll keep writing until we’re 100 per cent happy.”
Void Of Vision play The Colonial Hotel (Melbourne) 26 October and Halloween Hysteria at Jubilee Hotel (Brisbane) 27 October as well as Good Things Festival in December.
