What has 2017 been like for you?
[Victor] It’s been my best year so far, with so many good releases, gigs and tours around the world. I feel blessed.

How are you feeling about performing at Earth Frequency Festival next year?
I’m really looking forward to it. A friend of mine told me really good and special things about the Festival. I'm excited.

What are you looking forward to the most on tour in Australia?
I guess the whole tour will be special, so I’m looking forward to all of it. Oz. I’m coming, baby!

How would you describe your live performances to people who have never seen you before?
That’s hard to say. When I perform I’m giving my best to the audience. I’m always trying to be creative, innovating and surprising with different moods during the set. It’s my journey that I try to translate to people’s ears.

Coming from Sao Paulo, how do you incorporate your cultural roots into the music you produce?
Sao Paulo is a huge city, a business city, and here we have a diversified number of different cultures blending together, so I try to get this feeling by putting my different emotions and feelings in my music.

You're well-known for your skills as a remixer; what do you look for in a song when trying to remix it?
The original version has to have a good hook. If it does, it’s really easy for me to make my interpretation of the song. If it doesn’t, well... then it gets tricky.

How will you be spending the Christmas/ New Year period?
Christmas I’ll spend with family, but after that will be quite hectic. I’ll be playing a lot in December, 13 gigs actually. It will be fun.

Do you enjoy the festive season? Favourite memory you can share with us?
I really like Christmas time. I used to stay with my family and my Grandma used to cook the most amazing feast for us. Good times.

What are you planning for next year in terms of new music and live shows?
Next year, I’ll hold my releases a little bit so I can prepare something special for you. Besides my tour in Australia, I already have plenty of gigs in Europe scheduled for the summer already. 2018 will be fantastic.

If we were to look at your current playlists, what music are you playing at the moment?
If it’s my DJ playlists, it would be some stuff from Keith Carnal, Tale of Us, Stephan Bodzin, Kevin DeVries, Wehbba and myself. If it’s my personal playlist it goes from Depeche Mode to System Of A Down.

Earth Frequency Festival takes place at Ivory's Rock (SE QLD) 16-19 February, 2018.
