Australian electro-pop, folktronica singer-songwriter Vera Blue has delivered her first new music of 2020 – the delectable 'Lie To Me'.
With news she has signed with Republic Records (home to Lorde, The Weeknd) in the US, 'Lie To Me' features a slither of '80s pop production filtering through lush, electro-infused pop melodies before the second-half of the song dips into washed-out electronic soundscape, with dark yet tropical beats.
It's a summery dance hit – with extra layers of sonic tension – that depicts Vera falling in love; a 180-degree change from the lyrical content of her album 'Perennial', which was written in the ashes of a devastating break-up.
"When you go through a lot of emotional sh.t," begins Vera, "you can't imagine yourself in a new relationship.
"Then you suddenly fall into one, and the fear and mistrust can be overwhelming: 'is this as amazing as it seems or is it going to blow up in my face again!"'
Vera's first performance of 'Lie To Me' will be for YouTube Music Sessions on 26 August at 7pm EST.
