Vale: Jay Curley From Tumbleweed Has Died

Tumbleweed
Founder and Publisher. Based in Brisbane.
Howard started Scene Magazine in 1993. Paul Keating was Prime Minister. Whitney, Janet and Mariah all had Aussie #1s and Mark Zuckerberg was 9. He (Howard, not The Zuck) likes Star Trek and a good Oxford Comma – way too much fun at parties.

Jason Curley, of Aussie rock group Tumbleweed has died.

The band made the announcement via its Facebook Page earlier today:

"It is with deep sadness that we inform everyone of a great loss in the Tumbleweed family, our brother, friend and bass player Jay Curley passed away suddenly in his home yesterday. We are still shocked by the news of his death. We hope that people will remember him for his music, his big heart and his total dedication to rock and roll."

Jay and his brother Lenny were original members of the band, which was recently announced to play at Young Henrys Small World.

Tumbleweed formed in 1990 in Tarrawanna. Three of their studio albums appeared on the ARIA Albums Chart: Tumbleweed (No. 48 in 1992), Galactaphonic (No. 6 in 1995), and Return to Earth (No. 11 in 1996). They supported Nirvana, on their January 1992 tour of Australia, and reached the mainstream with their crunchy-psychedelia style. They also supported tours by Rollins Band and Monster Magnet.
