Away from the spotlight the past couple of years, today Aussie rapper Urthboy returns with the first taste of his re-imagined sound in the form of 'The Night Took You'.
The first collaborative work with a new production team consisting of Sulo (The Herd) and I.AmSolo (OneFour, B Wise), the track underlines Urthboy's move into the electronic realm while still keeping true to his emcee roots with crispy modern hip hop.A track ripe for the current unrest felt globally, 'The Night Took You' follows in the footsteps of Urthboy's prowess for strong messaging and storytelling lyricism developing further the discomfort of letting friendships go due to differences in belief systems, and principles related to right and wrong.
"This song exists somewhere in the journey of two friends who drift apart," Urthboy says.
"I was inspired to write it as I noticed older acquaintances changing, getting spiritually and intellectually lazy, falling into bigoted attitudes. Do you hang on to a friendship with someone who refuses the humanity of another?"
Urthboy fans don't have wait as long for more new music from Urthboy, with the artist planning a bigger body of work to be released later in 2020.
