Since its arrival in May this year, Rock Central has filled a void in Redcliffe's live music scene.
But with a number of unexpected expenses, Rock Central will host a fundraiser next month to gather funds to maintain the level of entertainment they currently offer.
Housed in the Bramble Bay Bowls Club, Rock Central has already played host to a range of notable and upcoming acts — both local and international — including Tex Perkins, Ash Grunwald and Slim Jim Phantom from The Stray Cats. While the venue was recently announced as the host of the launch party of the Independent Music Conference, which arrives in Brisbane on 7th-9th October. “We've got a headline act that I can't [announce] until next week.” Rock Central’s Entertainment/ Events Manager Dan Nebe says.
Unfortunately, ill-timed circumstances such as the replacement of an air-conditioning system have put a spanner in the works. “We've had quite a few things go wrong at the club … that have soaked up quite a lot of money. We're trying to keep Rock Central at the standard that we have — we need to upgrade the facility with power upgrades and increased sound-proofing which will ensure that we maintain a quality product to offer our customers and guests.”
The benefit show will take place from midday on Saturday 11th October, featuring the talents of local acts such as: The Counterfeit Umbrellas, Team Utopia, Mick Medew & The Mesmerisers, Union Radio, Penny Rides Shotgun, Hill 60, Some Jerks, Don Loco, Heavy Roller, The Gastons, Fat Pigs, Steve Skinner, Sunset Strip, Live Wired and Song Remains.
Tickets will be available at the door.
