Inspired by NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts and Live on KEXP, Up In The Airlock (UITA) is a new live performance video series to be hosted by Ian Haug (Powderfinger, The Church) that will capture some of the hottest local and national bands going around.
To be filmed at Ian's Airlock Studios in Brisbane and released via YouTube, UITA sessions will showcase acts in a studio environment with a nuanced perspective of intimacy, personality and technicalities often missed at a live show. The team behind UITA have pushed forward the launch of the series in reaction to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic with The Quarantine Sessions. This was meant to kick-off with a special performance from Brisbane rockers WAAX, but complying with government directions related to coronavirus UITA has paused production.
'Sadly our first announced session – featuring Brisbane’s WAAX – will have to be postponed, as we were not able to commence production for this,' UITA posted to Facebook.
'We did manage to get a few epic Brissy sessions up our sleeves. We feel that the right thing to do is still launch the series on our website on 9 April with one of these acts.
'We will also continue to take applications from bands for when we are able to take up where we left off.' Click here for more information.
