American musician and actor Tyler Hilton is on his way to Australia this December for a national tour with singer-songwriter Kate Voegele.
The pairing is a sort of life imitating art situation, with Tyler and Kate having starred in the TV series ‘One Tree Hill’ as the characters Chris Keller and Mia Catalano respectively.
Tyler was born and raised in California and got an early start on his music career by teaching himself to play Elvis Presley songs. This youthful eccentricity came in particular use years later when he portrayed a young Elvis in the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic ‘Walk The Line’.

He moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music and in 2004 released his debut solo album ‘The Tracks Of Tyler Hilton’. That same year he took up his role on season two of ‘One Tree Hill’, playing the arrogant yet musically talented Chris Keller.
His other acting credits include playing Taylor Swift’s love interest in her ‘Teardrops On My Guitar’ video clip, as well as performing alongside Robert Downey Jr in the 2008 indie film ‘Charlie Bartlett’. It was on the set on this film where he met his wife Megan Park, the couple getting engaged in 2013 and tying the knot in 2015.
Since his debut album, Tyler has released four albums including the ‘Live In Atlanta’ record and a deluxe edition of his 2012 studio full-length ‘Forget The Storm’.
His latest release was ‘Indian Summer’ back in 2014, which at the time was an exploration of the transition from boyhood to being a man.
“I’ve been getting more in touch with myself as ‘the man’ instead of the boy, or the person, or the guy. It’s the first time I’ve really wanted to be a man as opposed to anything else, and country music has always lent itself to those kinds of heroes,” he wrote on his blog at the time.

“As the anger from ‘Forget The Storm’ dissipates, I’m living a more grounded life, looking inward, and I’m in the first steps towards manhood. This record is going to be a companion to that experience.”
Tyler’s tour buddy Kate Voegele is just as multi-talented as her counterpart, also having both film and music credits to her name.
Kate came to ‘One Tree Hill’ as Mia Catalano in 2008 after the release of her debut album ‘Don’t Look Away’ in 2007. She would go on to play Mia as a recurring cast member for four seasons until 2011. Since then she’s gone on to sculpt a productive career primarily as a singer-songwriter, releasing her latest album ‘Canyonlands’ last year.
The upcoming tour featuring Tyler and Kate will be a chance for Australian audiences to see and hear two fine, young American singer-songwriters, and also hear the new music Tyler has been working on, with his latest single ‘Overtime’ released in August.
