triple j Issues Warning Ahead 2017 Hottest 100 Poll Closure

Founder and Publisher. Based in Brisbane.
Howard started Scene Magazine in 1993. Paul Keating was Prime Minister. Whitney, Janet and Mariah all had Aussie #1s and Mark Zuckerberg was 9. Over 30 years he's overseen the growth of scenestr magazine to become Australia's largest – and only national – street press while forging a digital-first imperative for the title in the mid-naughties. He's judged more battle of the bands than he cares to remember and proud of the myriad media partnerships the company has earned across the music, arts and comedy sectors. He likes Star Trek and a good Oxford Comma – way too much fun at parties.

triple j has issued a strong warning ahead of vote closing this Monday.

HQ has strongly suggested people vote now or else forego the right to argue an artist or track "shoulda been higher".

1.5 million votes have been received towards the Hottest 100 so far, which accounts for more votes received at this stage of the campaign than last year’s record breaking year. In 2017 2.2 million votes were cast in the poll which saw Flume running out at number one.

The time Muse pipped Silverchair by just 14 votes to make #1

If you’re one of the 69,000 people still struggling with your shortlists – your votes can still count and make a huge difference: there’s only a couple hundred votes separating some of the songs in the Top 5. In 2007 Muse pipped Silverchair by just 14 votes to reach #1.

Voting in the 2017 Hottest 100 poll closes 9am (AEDT) this Monday 22 January.
