triple j has teamed up with the Red Cross to bring you the smash hit Christmas charity single, ‘Christmas Number 1’.
Led by song writer and triple j Drive presenter The Doctor, the single parodies Christmas songs of the past, in a playful yet genuine effort to raise money for the Red Cross.
Joining The Doctor is a band and choir made up of some of Australia’s most talented musicians, including Phil Jamieson from Grinspoon, Elizabeth Rose, Thomas Rawle from Papa vs Pretty, Bertie Blackman, Tuka and Jeswon from Thundamentals, Joyride, Abbe May, Andy Bull, Laurence Pike from PVT, Touch Sensitive, Bree Tranter, Asta, Calum, James and Bryce from Lunatics on Pogo Sticks, B1 & B2 from Bananas in Pyjamas, Dr Karl and triple j presenters Tom & Alex, Linda Marigliano, Nina Las Vegas, Dom Alessio and Tom Tilley, who all donated their time and proceeds to the Red Cross Appeal.
Watch the all-star cast as they roll up their Christmas jumper sleeves to make the world a better place.
‘Christmas Number One’ can be downloaded from iTunes throughout December, with all the proceeds going to help families in crisis through the Red Cross. This means your generous donation will go towards helping local projects such as the Tasmanian and New South Wales bushfires and the Red Cross Save-A-Mate program, as well as support for the homeless, ‘at risk’ young people and Indigenous communities in remote areas. Funds will also contribute to international aid in areas like the Philippines, which suffered drastically from Typhoon Haiyan. Downloading triple j’s Christmas charity single is an easy and affordable way to do something good this festive season.
A representative of the Red Cross said: "Red Cross are thrilled to be working with triple j on ‘Christmas Number 1’. The money raised will help families and loved ones prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters such as bushfires and floods."
