Touch Sensitive To Deliver An Endless Weekend With His New Tour

Touch Sensitive's 'Endless Weekend Tour' travels nationally April 2019.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

If you haven't heard of Touch Sensitive, you most likely have streamed his 2013 tune 'Pizza Guy'.

From pizza guy to hit artist, Touch Sensitive has continually brought the goods. Firstly with his 2017 LP 'Visions' and then with single 'G.A.L.', released late last year.

Now Touch Sensitive, aka Michael Di Francesco, is celebrating with an Australian tour during the Easter long weekend.

The 'Endless Weekend Tour' will feature Mikey and support acts Billy Davis and CLYPSO, making it one, big party for electronica lovers. “I'm excited about the mood that sets the whole night,” Mikey says, “so that it's more like a night out rather than just going to something, watching, then leaving.

“It's more of a party than anything. It's not just about me, it's about the whole night and the experience for everyone.”

With his band coming along for the ride, Mikey plans to keep his set funky-fresh, creating a fun energy onstage. “The first show [I played] with the band [was] at Listen Out in Melbourne, which was lots of fun. It was fun going from playing by myself to playing with other humans, which is what music is about.

“The band this time [will be] everyone that was in the original line-up, except the keyboard player... It just depends on who's around at the time and who's available or who wants to do it. It is a little ambiguous as to who will be playing, which keeps it fresh.”

Touch Sensitive's 'G.A.L.' is a refreshing serving of classic house music inspired by one of the masters of the genre – Bob Sinclar.

The music video follows suit with lyrics overlaying old-school video recorder footage of 'out-dated' dancing and ridiculous outfits. “The actual track itself is a homage to early Bob Sinclar and early 2000s house music, or more so one of the many different house sounds of 2000. It's just a tribute to old Bob Sinclar music really.

“The strings are a sample from a Rene & Angela track called 'My First Love’; I was in my lounge room with a friend of mine and I had their record out. We were listening to it and I was like 'Oh that's so cool. How come it hasn't been [remixed] before?'

“So I put it into the computer and messed around with it. Then when I was in America, I did three or four sessions with [American producer] Daniel Wilson and we made probably four or five tracks from the sample, but that one I think was the second or third one we made together. It just kind of happened really quickly and that was it.”

Hopefully in the near future we will get to hear more new music from Touch Sensitive, as he is starting to work on (and finish) songs.

But first, he says he needs to be a little less critical of his own work. “I had to get myself out of this pattern of starting things and not finishing them.

"It's good because my band and my manager are encouraging me to do stuff. I feel like I'm finishing a lot more things than I ever have. It feels good.

“As long as I can keep [making music], I will keep doing it. You can always get better, and I always see things where I'm like 'Ahh man, that's so cool' or 'Where did they come from?'. I just want to get better [with my craft] really.”
