After its inaugural event this year in Brisbane, Torch Fest will return in 2022 expanding to include new dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
Staged by charity Listen Up Music, Torch Fest bridges the world of music with a healthy outlook on mental health by pairing local artists and musicians to each event, allowing them to share their own stories of inspiration."Torch Fest; the light that gets you through is Australia's biggest mental health music festival," co-founder of Listen Up Music, Ali Taylor, says.
"After a successful launch in Brisbane, Torch Fest is expanding out to four regional dates in 2022.
“Mental health doesn't discriminate, and so we felt it only right to shine further light on the topic, now in four states across the country."
The Sydney leg will feature the likes of Bec Sandrigde, AYA YVES, Imogen Clark and Tiarnie, with the Canberra event to host Gretta Ray, Sputnik Sweetheart, The Shang, LIV LI, Seb Szabo and others.
Set to bump in at the Melbourne concert will be WILSN, Jess Locke, Alexander Biggs, Benjamin Trillado and others. While the Brisbane show welcomes Tori Forsyth, Karl S. Williams, Aspy Jones, Jordan Merrick amongst a stacked line-up.
Tying each concert together will be the Torch Song, a track from each band's own catalogue they will perform during their respective sets that relates to a personal hardship and/ or mental health challenges overcome.
The festival will distribute battery-powered torches to event goers for them to light up during the performance of each Torch Song, highlighting the importance of surviving such experiences while recognising togetherness and support.
