Christmas CabaretThe creator and host of Australia’s first cabaret talk show The Greenroom Project, these are just five of Matt Ward’s favourite things about X-mas:

Christmas parties with friends and family

Christmas is a great excuse to get together with friends and celebrate. BBQs and swimming pools are a must. I’m lucky enough to have a birthday close to Christmas so that keeps the party going.

Christmas trees

It’s a bit of a tradition in my family to have a big tree. My mum’s Christmas tree looks as though it belongs in Harrods, she is very proud of it.

Christmas carols

As a singer, I’m often humming Christmas carols and performing at Christmas concerts and the like. Everybody loves a good Christmas carol. I like to reinvent old classics when performing.

Presents

I love giving presents to my family and like to go the extra mile to make sure it is something they will really enjoy. (I love getting them too).

Summer sunshine

Having lived in New York and London, I have to say I love that the Aussie Christmas is in the summer. It makes the day so much more enjoyable.

Spice up the silly season or add an extra dimension to your staff Christmas party by heading to The Basement at The Arts Centre Gold Coast on 8 December for their night of Crazy Christmas Cabaret.
