Hailing from northern New South Wales, Bree Bullock has been giving her soul to crowds for the better part of her life, and is now starting to give Brisbane a taste of her little, old world.
Her tunes range from slow and heart-felt ballads, to jazzy love tunes and rootsy, blues-driven songs. Set to play a show as part of The City Sounds, Bree shares five underrated local artists you should pay more attention to.
Pat Tierney
Recently nominated as a finalist in the Queensland Music Awards in the category of blues and roots, Pat is an incredibly gifted musician who draws influence from some of my favourite artists: Ben Harper, Bob Dylan, Harry Manx and Xavier Rudd. He's also one of the loveliest, hardworking and generous guys I know in the local music scene. He deserves every success.Breaking Hart Benton
I saw this trio play an intimate, little gig a while back, and their harmonies and writing ability really moved me. They give a new edge to old-time country and bluegrass styles which both have a special place in my heart. They are all wonderfully talented musicians whose talents and personalities really complement one another on stage. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them live, and would definitely recommend catching one of their shows.Hailey Calvert
Gosh, I could rave about this woman's voice forever. It's effortless and powerful and will give you goosebumps all over! I would describe Hailey's music as a mix of folk and blues. She writes honestly and from the heart. Her live shows are exceptional. She is also a mega dork, which I love. Super humble and real. The Altais
I first saw The Altais play at an intimate venue on the Gold Coast. I found them utterly bewitching to watch. Their set was hypnotic and beautiful, their harmonies were uplifting, their songwriting was effortlessly beautiful and afterward I felt super-blissed out and peaceful. I'd describe their style as acoustic/ folk. I'm excited to have these guys along as my support act for my upcoming single launch.Jac Stone
I've been a huge fan of Jac's for years now. Her voice is soulful and resonant, and she has such a magnetic energy on stage, and her songwriting... Gah! So damn good! I especially love her tune, 'Trying To Be Sorry'. Have a listen, you won't regret it!Bree Bullock will be performing her soulful tunes at the Suitcase Rummage, Reddacliff Place, as part of The City Sounds this Sunday 1 March from noon until 4pm.
